Prime Timers in the Park
New York Prime Timers and friends had a blast at our three recent reunions. Weather permitting, we will host another fall foliage gathering at Washington Square Park on Sunday, November 22, at 2 p.m. The meeting time was made earlier because sunset now begins at 4:45 p.m.
At our recent park outings, we enjoyed in the background the swing music performed by the 15-piece Eyal Vilner Big Band. Perhaps the musicians and the dancers will entertain us again at our November fall foliage outing!
Enter the park at Washington Square West and Washington Place, and we will take over as many benches as we need in the shady area near the entrance.
The closest subway station is West 4th Street on the A, B, C, D, E, or F trains; the exit on 3rd Street has the advantage of an elevator and will leave you closer to our destination than the 8th Street exit. Also in the vicinity, the 1 train to Christopher Street and the N, R and W trains to 8th Street would leave you with a bit of walking distance.
Please note that the NYC Parks Department asks that all visitors wear face coverings and remain six feet apart. Please wear a face mask at all times except when eating or drinking, maintain a reasonable distance from one another, and respect that some of us are not yet ready for body contact like handshakes, kisses and hugs.
New York Prime Timers Second Saturdays
The LGBT Community Center remains closed and has not yet announced an opening date. Once the Center reopens, New York Prime Timers will resume its Second Saturday series along with its general membership meet and greet.
New York Prime Timers Luncheons
The New York Prime Timers luncheons also remain on hiatus. Eating together requires us to be in close proximity and remove our masks. We will resume our monthly luncheons when it seems safe to remove our masks together.
New York Prime Timers Hotel Parties
We are considering (but not yet promising) the resumption of hotel parties in early 2021 if all attendees agree to wear their masks whenever their mouths are not busy. This can happen only if the citywide infections rates diminish.
New York Prime Timers Zoom Video Conferencing
New York Prime Timers is planning on starting a series of Zoom-based conferences in the near future. Members will be given a link along with the time and date of the conference.
We are collecting ideas for safe indoor outings during the colder months. Please email us your ideas!
